Pre-processing and analysis of high-throughput data requires more and more mutually dependent steps and on the other hand ever-increasing computational power that exceeds the capacities of desktop computers. As the functionality of simple script pipelines is limited, the use of a workflow management system is recommended. Here, we present Watchdog, a lightweight workflow management system for the automated analysis of experimental high-throughput data on distributed computer systems with customizable error detection.
